Abdoulaye Doucoure is intent on leaving Watford amid reported interest from Paris Saint-Germain.
The French midfielder has been strongly linked with the Ligue 1 champions , who are apparently looking at bolstering their midfield options by signing the 26-year-old.
And Doucoure says he’s “flattered” by the reported interest, insisting that Watford are aware of his ambitions to play for a team in the Champions League.
He told Canal+ : “I think I am going to leave Watford. The club know my ambitions and want to help me get to the next level.
“I’m flattered by the interest of PSG but for the moment there’s nothing concrete. I will focus on my performance for my club. I’ve not had contact with PSG and they’ve not contacted Watford.
“My goal is to play well for Watford and then maybe join a Champions League team.
“This winter we’ll study all possibilities on offer. The most important thing for me is to continue to progress and with my performances.
“Staying in England is a possibility and the Italian league is becoming more interesting. There are clubs who have returned to show interest in me again.
“The first criteria for me is that the club plays in the Champions League.”
Watford signed Doucoure from Rennes back in 2016, with the midfielder having impressed with his performances in the Premier League.
He’s since played 79 games in England’s top flight, scoring a total of 11 goals and claiming eight assists.
The Hornets are currently seventh in the table and are unbeaten in their last four games in all competitions, including Saturday’s 2-1 win away at Crystal Palace that saw Tom Cleverley score a 74th-minute winner.
Next up for Javi Gracia’s side is a home meeting with Burnley, who have won their last four matches in all competitions.
