Brazil played ‘lights out’ in their 5th match of the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Nations League on Saturday in front of a home crowd at Goiania Arena in the center of the country. Literally. The Brazilians moved to 4-1 on the tournament with a 3-0 sweep of Japan, in a match that took about 2 hours – long for a 3-set match.
That’s because early in the 3rd set, the lights went out in the 11,000 seat arena. While there was still some visibility thanks to natural light in the arena, there was about a 30-minute delay. The players stayed warm on the court, while the fans had some fun with their cell-phone lights.
